Danielle McDonald

Danielle McDonald is an assistant professor in the Political Science and Criminal Justice Department. She received her Ph.D. in criminology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her Masters degree was obtained from Virginia Tech in sociology with an emphasis in criminology and her bachelor degrees are in sociology and psychology from West Virginia University. Her research interests include the areas of corrections, female inmates, juveniles and substance abuse treatment programs.

Professor McDonald has experience evaluating substance abuse programming in the correctional system and more recently has been focusing on the area of community-based programs for prevention and post release from the criminal justice system.

Professor McDonald enjoys involving students in her research. She sees this as a way for students to obtain practical experience in the field while also creating the networks needed to obtain employment after graduation.
